3 Ingredient Crock Pot Apple Dump Cake

3 Ingredient Crock Pot Apple Dump Cake

“Life is uncertain.  Eat the dessert first.”

-Ernestine Ulmer

Sometimes the simplest of things are the best, aren’t they?  I definitely agree, after enjoying this Apple Dump Cake I made using my crockpot!  FYI,  you can definitely make this recipe in the oven (I have added the instructions below) and the original recipe did suggest the oven, but I wanted something that I could just walk away from and go about my day.

I really use my crock pot a lot (almost daily), mainly because I can throw together some pretty delicious and healthy meals in no time at all but this is my first time trying a dessert recipe with it.  To be honest, you will want to eat the dessert first.

You must try it!  That’s the only way I can tell you how warm and yummy it is.  Of course, the fact that there’s only three ingredients  doesn’t hurt either.

Here’s what you’ll need to make this recipe:

  • 2 cans of apple pie filling
  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick of butter (1/4 pound)
  • Crock Pot

Super simple, right?

1. Dump the cans of pie filling into the bottom of your crock pot.

2. Sprinkle the cake mix on top of the pie filling

3. Top with the butter

4. Cover and cook for 4 hours.

Let the cake sit for about 15 minutes before you serve it.  I like to add a scoop of ice cream or whip cream before I serve it.  For my sweet tooth friends, drizzle the cake with caramel sauce.  Oh my goodness!

Do you have a simple go-to dessert idea that you use often?  I’d love to hear about your recipe in the comments below.
